We conduct monthly screenings for children ages 3 to 5. We will screen in the areas of health, speech, language, gross and fine motor and cognitive development. If you have a concern with your child's development or are just wondering if they are on track, give us a call. We would be happy to get something scheduled. Our phone number is (816) 994-4901.
Children who attend Early Childhood Special Education have a documented delay in one or more of the following areas: cognition, motor, speech/language, social/emotional skills, or adaptive behavior. The referral process for possible placement in ECSE includes an initial screening or previous services via the Missouri First Steps Program. Based on the outcome of the screening process, students may be referred for a formal special education evaluation. The special education evaluation determines deficit areas and students must meet eligibility criteria set up by the state of Missouri.
This program is open to children the year prior to entering kindergarten. Priority placement will be given to children who have completed a screening at the Early Childhood Center and demonstrate a need for preschool prior to entering kindergarten. This program is tuition based.
